The Ireland-based group Low Sea provide some spacey, ambient thrills in their EP The Light that mixes shoegaze-y Jesus & Mary Chain (in their sweet "33 1/3" mode) with iconic, Nico-powered dream vocals. The mostly electronic proceedings of "Save My Soul" and "Some Kind Of Strange" are satisfying, occasionally danceable, ditties in the vein of Neon Indian (also a label-mate on Lefse Records) — but it’s when the lead songstress lets her banshee voice rip into the louder rock registers that Low Sea sounds like something special. Joan Jett gone New Wave, with a psychedelic noise chaser? More please!
Go stalk Low Sea at Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, and find the album at Lefse Records.
