ARSUN : Babe I Hear Thunder In Your Heart

Back half-a-century ago, in the era known as the seventies, there was a certain relaxed way of doing things, particularly in the country-infused rock scene of the time. Yes, we all know Laurel Canyon and Almost Famous, the troubadour music ranging from a wry sort of happy to a resigned sort of sad. Arsun Sorrenti channels all that on his debut album, Babe I Hear Thunder In Your Heart.

One can feel Sorrenti sitting down with a guitar and telling his feelings just as they are throughout Heart. Best is probably when he has his wry smile, such as opener “White Light” or the country trot near-title track “Babe, I Hear Thunder”. But he can also sway for love amid the sadness, like in the final two number, “If You Must Leave” and great finisher “Lay Me Down”.

Everything has come back in this day & age, even the sounds of fifty years ago, even if you’re young enough not to be shocked that the seventies are now fifty years ago. Relax and prick up your hear because Babe I Hear Thunder In Your Heart.
