Deerhunter : Live

Dirty Projectors and Deerhunter brought their co-headlining tour to New York’s Webster Hall (QRO venue review) on Tuesday & Wednesday, September 10th & 11th, swapping the playing order each night.

Dirty Projectors

For the second night, Dirty Projectors kicked off the show. The set was eclectic and enlightening, with the band playing quite the variety of songs. Several were from their latest album, Lamp Lit Prose, in addition to classics like “Impregnable Question” and “Socialites”. I have to say, one of the most impressive things about Dirty Projectors is their ability to bring their unique sounds to life on-stage. It’s easy to think that their strategically placed sounds are created in studio production, so it’s quite enamoring to see them live, and learn that it’s all due to the sheer talent of this band. They also played several new songs as well, so I expect to see a new album coming soon.

Deerhunter then took the stage, immediately filling the ballroom with their heavy atmospheric rock sounds. Frontman Bradford Cox brings such passion to his music, while still making everything look effortlessly cool. The band is touring in support of their latest album released earlier this year, Why Hasn’t Everything Already Disappeared? (QRO review), while of course playing classics like “Revival” and “He Would Have Laughed”. Deerhunter’s shows have some of the best energy of any live show – definitely catch this tour if you can!
