Some people have been making beautiful music that you probably failed to notice. The Weather Station are not some overnight brand-new find, but a powerful and enchanting act that’s been around for fifteen years. Hopefully new record Ignorance gets them the attention they deserve, because it’s an album that deserves attention.
On Ignorance, The Weather Station can be chill and smooth such as in the opener “Robber”, yet somehow both chill and frantic on the following “Atlantic”. Their beautiful sounds grow wonderfully, practically hugging the listener on “Tried To Tell You” and earning the uplift of “Heart”. Even the heartbreak of “Parking Lot” is enchanting.
As we’re all still at home, waiting for the vaccine while we freeze, hopefully people are finding new artists and really sitting with new records. The Weather Station and Ignorance deserves that kind of beautiful attention.
