The Piano Recital : Live

Last night, indie musicians from across the musical spectrum graced New York’s Carnegie Hall for stripped-back performances for The Piano Recital. Returning for its first iteration in five years, the event featured solo piano performances from artists like Japanese Breakfast’s Michelle Zauner, Eric D. Johnson (Fruit Bats, Bonny Light Horseman), Kevin Morby, Craig Finn, Phil Cook, Uwade, Johanna Samuels, Cassandra Jenkins, Stuart Bogie, Courtney Marie Andrews and a special guest appearance from Nathaniel Rateliff. There was a certain lightness and reverence in the historic main stage, each noting the gravity of performing in a treasured venue. Each was asked to perform two songs, and at the end of the night, all musicians on stage performed “Let It Be”.
