St. Augustine, Florida’s Francis Field Showcase welcomes Sing Out Loud this weekend, Friday & Saturday, September 22nd & 23rd:

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 22nd

The Black Keys, 9:30 PM – 11:00 PM

The blues-rock from guitar/drums duo of Dan Auerbach & Patrick Carney (QRO photos at a festival) sounds like it comes from the deepest part of the South, but these two Buckeyes (QRO photos at a festival) hail from Akron, Ohio. However, The Black Keys (QRO photos outdoors) are as gritty as anyone, whether on records like 2008’s Attack & Release (QRO review), 2010’s Brothers (QRO review), 2011’s El Camino (QRO review), 2014’s Turn Blue (QRO review), 2019’s “Let’s Rock” (QRO review), and 2021’s hill country blues covers Delta Kream (QRO review), or live (QRO ’22 live review) as depicted on the Live at Crystal Ballroom DVD (QRO review). And the duo (QRO photos at a festival) headline Sing Out Loud (QRO photos headlining a festival), touring last year’s Dropout Boogie (QRO review).

Lord Huron, 7:35 PM – 8:50 PM

The lonesome, lakeside dreams of Lord Huron (QRO photos) is also a festival regular (QRO photos at a festival), coming to Sing Out Loud (QRO photos at a ’21 festival) behind 2021’s Long Lost.

Yola, 6:05 PM – 7:05 PM

Bristol, England’s Yola Carter (QRO photos) comes to Sing Out Loud (QRO photos at a festival) behind 2021’s Stand for Myself – and last year playing “godmother of rock n’ roll” Sister Rosetta Tharpe in Baz Luhrman’s Elvis.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 23rd

Mumford & Sons, 9:30 PM – 11:00 PM

London’s King’s College & St. Paul’s School are serving as something of the English alt-folk Wesleyan, seeing related acts hit it big. First there was Noah & The Whale, with graduates of both, then Noah’s female vocalist Laura Marling went out on her own. But the biggest hit from there has to be fellow Marling collaborator Mumford & Sons (QRO live review). Debut Sign No More saw them break through to the mainstream (QRO photos outdoors) with songs like “Little Lion Man”, and 2012’s follow-up Babel (QRO review) hit number one on the charts (QRO photos) on both sides of the Atlantic (QRO photos at a European festival).

Oh, they’ve also done such feats as perform on the Grammys with Bob Dylan – and win album of the year in 2013! They also got a Grammy for their tour documentary Big Easy Express (QRO screening review), where they, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, and Old Crow Medicine Show toured the southwest by train – a railroad version of their ‘Gentlemen of the Road Stopover’ tours (QRO review). And now Mumford & Sons (QRO live review) come to Sing Out Loud to headline (QRO photos at a festival), after last year’s Delta (QRO review) and 2015’s Wilder Mind (QRO review), not to mention frontman Marcus Mumford’s recent solo work (QRO live review).

Maggie Rogers, 7:35 PM – 8:50 PM

Maryland’s Maggie Rogers (QRO photos at a festival) broke out when her single “Alaska” was played to Pharrell Williams at an NYU master class. She’s since become a big name in her own right (QRO photos) with 2019’s full-length debut Heard It In a Past Life and last year’s Surrender. She’s been playing bigger & bigger stages (QRO photos at a festival the weekend prior), and now comes to Sing Out Loud (QRO photos at a festival).

Elle King, 6:05 PM – 7:05 PM

Songstress Elle King (QRO photos at a festival) encompasses country, soul, rock, and blues (QRO ’23 photos). She comes to Sing Out Loud (QRO photos at a festival) behind this year’s great Come Get Your Wife (QRO review).

Amos Lee, 4:35 PM – 5:35 PM

Philly’s Amos Lee (QRO photos) goes a jazz-fusion route, with soul, folk and blues thrown into the mix. He’s opened for legendary singer/songwriters like Bob Dylan, Merle Haggard, Paul Simon, and Elvis Costello, and is coming to Sing Out Loud (QRO photos at a festival) behind last year’s My Ideal: A Tribute to Chet Baker Sings.

SG Goodman, 3:30 PM – 4:15 PM
