Heartbreak comes in all flavors of the rainbow, from quiet intimacy to grand tragedy, as does your good ol’ fashioned love songs. But usually, artists stick to one end of that rainbow, staying in their wheelhouse where they do it best. On Love Lines, LP mostly goes big, but varies up that size in great ways.
First and foremost is their tropicalia, a style that actually hard to do if it’s not in your cabana, but LP pulls it off wonderfully in opener “Golden” and the come-on “Hola”. Those two are on the positive side of things, but Love Lines also has the swaying grand love lost title track, not to mention two great disco-dance beat numbers on heartbreak, “Love Song” and “Burn It Down”. And it all ends with the sweet finish of loss with “Hold the Light”.
If you’re in love, out of love, or never loved before, it’s all uniquely you. Music as a whole reflects that, and LP themselves reflects it on Love Lines.
