On a night better suited to the sounds of the children’s chant, “Rain, rain, go away,” Kings Of Leon brought their brooding and sensual sound to iThink Financial Amphitheater in West Palm Beach, Florida to open their U.S. tour.
Rain and lightning, typical on a South Florida Summer evening, was present in excess on Tuesday, August 3rd as KOL prepared to kick off their much anticipated rescheduled U.S. tour. Finally, after a nearly ninety minute delay Cold War Kids got the action started. With a mandatory 11pm ending time for music the Kids hurried through a seven song set of the hits, including “First” and “Love Is Mystical”.
After a hurried set turn-around, the boys from Nashville took the stage to a raucous round of applause. The KOL set was anything but hurried, cranking out a huge set of twenty seven songs ranging from the hits “Sex On Fire” to live debuts “Time In Disguise”. As usual the songs were brilliantly crafted, the production well thought-out and the performance tight.
The opening night of a tour is sometimes less than stellar as there are kinks to work out and rust to be shaken off. Not the case with KOL. West Palm was as near perfect as possible, assuring the rest of the country that they are in for a treat.
