Bass Boat : Live

Since this was my first time on a boat (and covering Bass Boat party on iBoatNYC specifically), I walked in with an open mind, not knowing what to expect on Saturday, June 3rd. However, after watching an ad or two prior to the party, it looked like my night would be fun. Upon arrival, Kazeta kicked things off with a chill set before departure. He played a variety of throwbacks as attendees gradually poured in, maintaining the energy of Bass Boat. The main room had Remix and he did not disappoint.  The crowd was very engaged in the music and his transitions were great.

Special guest Buku entered the fray next, and things progressed from there. Buku brought the bass to the boat, with a heavy hitting set that sent waves throughout the room. Meanwhile, partygoers got a smooth balance of sweet and spicy tunes in the room playing Latin music upstairs. When the boat finally moved, we were treated to some beautiful views of the Statue of Liberty in addition to the Colgate Clock in Jersey City.

An intermission followed after Buku wrapped things up. As the crowd waited in anticipation for Flux Pavilion, “Eyes on Fire (Zeds Dead Remix)” played in the background. Minutes passed by and Flux came on, ready to go. Samples of tracks from the drum pad lulled the audience in, while some moments called for his guitar. It truly became a musical journey on water, transporting us from nostalgic hits like “I Can’t Stop” to newer unfamiliar tracks.

The top floor went unexplored until the last minute but, from my perspective, people appeared to enjoy themselves. The cool nightly breeze contributed to the ambiance and intimacy of Bass Boat’s peak. Each floor managed the quality of sound very well without conflict. Overall, it was an event that I would definitely revisit, or recommend to first-timers.
