QRO has crossed paths with Tiny Fireflies before when we wrote up "We Made A Pact." Now we’re writing up a single off their new release (Cloudberry Records, 3/15), and, like Jaws IV, THIS TIME IT’S PERSONAL. Or not. Or personal in a good way, like: "Oh hey, really dig that new track. Hits me deep. Definitely don’t want to launch into you with my 3 rows of razor sharp teeth while you’re swimming in the water, as Nature’s Perfect Aquatic Killing Machine."
Tiny Fireflies is a twee-gaze duo that can fire on a lot of different pistons. More than you’d expect from a two-piece. I saw them in Chicago at the Subterranean, and there were even some Portishead-esque moments when they turned to the electric beat box. Nice.
