Good news for Chappo fans — the Brooklyn-based space lullaby pop gurus will be releasing a new EP called Plastique Universe II: Pisces Princess on Monday, August 15th. QRO’s been fans since we caught Chappo at Northside Fest a couple years back (with Tayisha Busay, Planet Rump & more) — check out the write-up & photo gallery. Wild night, made all the crazier by Chappo’s glitter-spewing ray guns and neon indian headress.
An early listen to the EP reveals an even split between up & down tempo numbers. Chappo can do the twangy, Girls-esque alt Americana, as on "Lay With Me"; they can do the "Spaceman Cometh" of "Island Opiate"; they can do a fractured take on Brit pop as in "Almost Naked"; they can do the hard-drivin’ blues rock of "Petrified Sands". Basically, it’s one-stop rock n roll shopping.
Get a sneak listen to their single "Bodies Coasting", plus the laidback "Lay With Me"; find ’em on Facebook, stream more Chappo on Bandcamp, and stalk ’em on Twitter. Plastique Universe II: Pisces Princess drops 8/15 – get on it here!
