We all like to party, but we all also know the costs. It’s not just after the party, after you got drunk and did something stupid, but even during the party while you’re doing something bad, even before the party when you’re planning on doing something awful. New York post-punks TVOD get into that on the dark Party Time.
Because despite the title, this is a dark post-punk album. Indeed, Time might be best when it leans away from the party theme and goes straight strong, evocative push, such as with opener “Uniform” and “Pool House”. But TVOD also address the party and all its downsides on the call out “Wells Fargo” and the crashing closing title track.
Who knows what a TVOD show is like, as they’re touring Europe (and this is the kind of record that has been bigger in Europe than the band’s native States since the eighties…), but they deliver a strong hit of Party Time.
