Crooner Tom Jones brought his ‘Ages and Stages’ tour to Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on Friday, May 12th.

And while the eighty-two-year-old moved a bit slower and spent more time sitting, he still commanded standing ovations from a sold-out crowd old enough to have watched him perform in his heyday, and his voice was ageless. Jones was tireless as he performed twenty-one songs, including seven from his latest release, Surrounded By Time, while a giant video screen behind him showed what was happening on stage or alternated with silhouettes of dancers and random images.

The evening was not strictly a greatest hits show, however. There were of course the hits, including “It’s Not Unusual”, “Sex Bomb”, and “What’s New, Pussycat”. The aforementioned album was one of covers including those of Prince and Chuck Berry, many of which were played to great effect to the appreciation of the crowd.

Like a fine wine, Tom Jones has shown that he is aging like a fine wine, albeit one with a great set of vocal cords.
