Roxy Hotel Tribeca (formerly Tribeca Grand) is located on 2 6th Avenue, Manhattan, right where 6th Avenue begins by splitting off from Church Street, taking up the whole triangular block between White Street and Walker Street.  It lies at the northeastern end of the TriBeCa (‘Triangle Below Canal’), only two blocks south of Canal Street, where TriBeCa meets SoHo, and one block west of Broadway, where TriBeCa meets Chinatown (and just three blocks southeast of Little Italy).  Opened in 2000, Tribeca Grand Hotel was the first luxury hotel in TriBeCa.

The entrance to Tribeca Grand Hotel is on Church and White Street, but the actual event/venue space is located in the northwest corner of the ground floor, past the lounge area, just off from the bar.  There are a few steps down, then past the soundboard space and some seats to the right, with a bar to the left, before opening up somewhat in front of the stage at the back.  The whole space is quite cramped, especially at the entrance and bottleneck in front of the bar, but also in the main stage floor, though some space can be found to the left, past the bar, but before the raised DJ space.  The stage is only a foot or so off the ground, without that much extra lighting.

When used, the space is used mostly for DJ-ed nightclub events, but there have been concert/DJ shows there, usually free with RSVP.  Being mostly a nightclub, the soundsystem’s output is actually pretty good (if too loud when the DJ is on), but the inputs for bands have been known to have problems.   The long space makes it far to see the band from the back, even up the few stairs, and it is an absolute nightmare trying to make it in or through the crowd near the bar, as people are going cross-wise to/from the bar as well as towards/away from the stage; they also arrive & move in large groups, and seem to expect that everyone will move for them, and there will always be a space for them, no matter how packed the event is.
