You know how we feel about Swedish bands at MMM-MMMP3s. We love them: Shout Out Louds, Nervous Nellie, Black Bug — just to name a few. The country is a treasure trove of rock experimentation all along the spectrum, from straight fuzz buzz to moodier electro numbers. Pallers lights it up at the ambient edge of the spectrum, milking an Antlers-like appeal out of spacey-riffs and synth lines. Throw in Yeasayer, Animal Collective, Depeche Mode too, as long as I’m throwing out "sounds likes." Good company, solid outfit.
"Wired" is just about as straight a pop song as Pallers delivers on their new album The Sea Of Memories. Some of these tracks are so minimal that they wouldn’t be out of place in a white-walled art gallery, spacing out the patrons as they get ready to shed a few thousand dollars on some objet d’art. "Sound Of Silence" is a particularly enjoyable ambient soundscape in the minimal tradition, with just a hint of churchy, hymnal recitation breaking like the tide on the far shore of your auditory range.
Don’t be a philistine and let a little experimental vibes scare you off — dive right in! Stream the tracks below, buy the album here, and say hi on Twitter & Facebook & at their own site. Cheers!
