Kenny Wayne Shepherd, the blues guitar virtuoso, brought his rock and roll blues to the Broward Center For the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday, February 2nd. For good measure, he brought along the multi-genre bad girl Samantha Fish to get things started.

When two guitar phenoms get together the evening is sure to be magical. Such was the case on this evening. Samantha Fish started things off with her mix of blues, rock, and country guitar. Playing her cigar box guitar, the Kansas City native did her best to channel her inner Stevie Ray Vaughn and Tom Petty as she provided an hour of tasty licks to warm up an already fired-up crowd.

After a two-year-long delay, Kenny Wayne Shepherd could finally perform his 25th-anniversary tour. The majority of the setlist drew from 1997’s Trouble Is record with the rest being covers or from other records including a hot number off of 2019’s The Traveler. While KWS was clearly the lead guitarist on the stage, the vocal duties were shared with rhythm guitarist Noah Hunt.

The crowd was engaged all evening with Shepherd’s jamming solos through the individual band members taking a turn in the spotlight. The night came to an end with individual bows from the band, all to raucous applause from an appreciative audience.
