While Led Zeppelin tribute bands are a dime a dozen, Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening is better at it than everyone else. The band features Bonham occupying the drum stool, bassist Dorian Heartsong, Alex Howland on keys, and Jimmy Page doppelganger Jimmy Sakurai on lead guitar.
JBLZE is more than a tribute band; they are an homage to the late John Bonham. His presence is felt on all of the hard drumming numbers, like “Rock and Roll” and “Heartbreaker”. During these difficult numbers, Bonham shines and truly channels his father.
On Sunday, December 15th, they performed at a packed house at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida. They performed all the hard-driving hits that Led Zeppelin fans would expect such as “In The Evening” & “Good Times Bad Times” to open the night and “Whole Lotta Love” & “Heartbreaker” to close the show. Sandwiched between were some deeper cuts like “Over The Hills and Far Away” & “The Ocean”.
This outfit, in paying tribute to Led Zep, and John Bonham specifically, has done the band proud.
