ROCK IS DEAD THEY SAY; LONG LIVE ROCK

HOW A DUFF MCKAGAN CONCERT IS BETTER THAN VISITING A THERAPIST

Have you ever worked 14 hours in a row, were dead exhausted, and had tickets to a concert but all you wanted to do was chill at home?

Well that was the mode I was in on Saturday, June 8th, and let me tell you: the power of music is alive and well in the hands of Duff McKagan and his band (led by Shooter Jennings), at Nashville’s Cannery Ballroom. Jennings produced Duff’s new album Tenderness, and they brought the album to life with an intensity that is rarely achieved.

On top of that they did covers of “River of Deceit” by Mad Season and “Clampdown” by The Clash that Joe Strummer would have approved as it had an energy that The Clash were able to generate but few bands are able to.

Duff McKaganIn an interview Duff said, “That connectivity with the audience that I get to enjoy, that’s my church. It’s not one of ego or anything like, ‘I’m on the stage and the lights.’ It’s just this connectivity, and it’s always been that way for me.”

Here are the remaining dates on the tour:
June 13: El Rey, LA
June 14: Great American Music Hall, SF
June 15: Aladdin Theater, Portland, OR
June 16: Showbox Presents, Seattle
