Chromeo like a good tease, and while we’re still waiting for an official release date for fourth album White Women, the electro-funk duo’s having fun building the anticipation. They’ve been one of my favorite live bands since the first time I saw them three years ago, and their recent one-off hometown show in New York at Webster Hall (QRO venue review) on Thursday, November 14th was no exception.

Indeed, waiting becomes half the fun, from the first time fans start pre-show sing-alongs of Chromeo’s signature “Intro”. Singer/guitarist/Proust scholar Dave 1 and multi-instrumentalist P-Thugg certainly deserve the kind of devotion they receive; deeper cuts like “Call Me Up” and “100%” may as well be hits as big as “Fancy Footwork” or “Night By Night”. While only one other new song besides the already-released “Sexy Socialite” and “Over Your Shoulder” was previewed, they surely left everyone wanting more. Of course, it’s still hard to come away from a Chromeo show unsatisfied – no one delivers a tight performance and confetti cannon-fueled party quite like them.
