Head over to Knox Far State Park in East Aurora, New York for Borderland Festival, Friday-Sunday, September 13th-15th:

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 13th

Main Stage

The Black Crowes, 9:15 PM

Atlanta brothers Chris & Rich Robinson hit it big in the early nineties as The Black Crowes (QRO photos at a festival), with such output as Shake Your Money Maker and “Remedy”. When the record sales in the late nineties couldn’t match up, label problems followed, but the band found success on the road (QRO ’22 live review). Yet they still went on hiatus for much of the start of this century/millennium, but their blues-rock jam returned (QRO ’24 live review), most recently with this year’s Happiness Bastards (QRO review).

The Black Crowes

Cory Wong, 7:15 PM – 8:15 PM

The multi-genre Cory Wong has worked with everyone from Jon Batiste to Dave Matthews, but comes on his own to Borderland.

Cory Wong

The Sheepdogs, 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM

In 2011, Rolling Stone ran a ‘Choose the Cover’ contest for the first unsigned band to ever appear on the venerable magazine’s cover, and the winner was Saskatoon’s The Sheepdogs (QRO photos at a festival two days before winning the contest). However, the group (QRO photos) was unsigned more due to location than sound, as their seventies guitar-rock isn’t entirely original, but is popular – they’ve since signed to Warner Music (QRO photos at a festival).
